Boro Administrator; Former Councilman Join Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club

Borough Administrator Joseph D'Arco and former Councilman Dennis Arslanian joined the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club at the beginning of the year 2013. Sworn in by Past President Mukesh Malkan and sponsored by Mel Fabrikant, these two new members represent the resurgence of membership in the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club. At their Holiday Party, NJ Assemblywoman Connie Wagner and Paramus First Lady MaryAnn LaBarbiera were inducted into the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club as Honorary Members. Past President Mukesh Malkan officiated at the ceremony and pinned Wagner while the Mayor, also an Honorary Member, pinned his wife. Paramus Sunrise Rotary, The Little Club with A Big Heart, Donates $500.00 To CAFS

Children's Aid And Family Services was the recipient of a $500.00 check from the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club. A small club, Paramus Sunrise Rotary is known as 'The little club with a big heart!'. Not only have they donated monies to this charity, but have also dedicated funds to organizations and Borough Departments within the community. Elizabeth (Liz) Mason of CAFS was on hand to tell the members what her organization was about and also to receive the check presented by club President Joe Castelano and Treasurer Mukesh Malkan. Lorraine Joewono, Director of the Bergen County Division of Human Services, informed the members of the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club about the services offered by her department. It was vital information to the Rotary members since almost everyone has contact with senior citizens. There were several members who immediately qualified for help from Joewono's department. Myanmar-Burma Life Described to the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club

The Reverend Dr. Samuel M. Stone spoke to the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club about his recent trip to Myanmar, also known as Burma. Aided by a PowerPoint program, he described the customs and habitats. Native to Burma, he was able to describe the change in culture now that Myanmar has released its stringent rules. Along with the release of politician and Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi many restrictions have been lifted.
